Challenge: Ammonia Refrigeration System
Solution:    A PLC system with a graphics interface was used to control all pumps, valves, and fans to the customer specifications. The system included controls of the condenser chemical systems, defrost schedules, and refrigeration controls.

Challenge: Hydraulic Cylinder Positioning System
Solution:    A PLC system was used with a motion control module housed in the PLC rack and interfaced to an OIT package to enter cylinders configuration data and control the cylinder motions.

Challenge: Automate a cookie manufacturing plant.
Solution:    A PLC was used to coordinate several VFD’s and a motion control system to precisely control the size and shape of the cookies. Process weighing was done with external weight control interfaces. Electronic operator terminals were used for local control. A PC based SCADA package was used for recipe generation and data collection. Interface to the mainframe database was done with Visual Basic.

Challenge: Retrofit tire manufacturing machines.
Solution:    A PLC system was used to automate the tire machines. Several variable frequency drives were coordinated with a master resolvers for position control. An electronic operator interface was used for operator interface. All panel design and construction was performed by CSi at the customer's request.

Challenge: Automate a moving test line
Solution:    A Personal Computer-based control system was installed using thermocouples, power transducers and other sensors. Extensive use of bar code readers to capture product identification numbers was also implemented. All test data, bar code numbers and operator comments were gathered in a central database for report generation to a remote computer and printer.

Challenge: Upgrade a chemical batch and mixing system.
Solution:    Using a large PLC and a electronic operator terminal, the system was upgraded to give the operators more control and flexibility in the batch system. Recipes and formulation changes are more accessible to the operators as well. A modem was installed to facilitate remote troubleshooting.

Challenge: Automate a large machining center:
Solution:    A machine tool OEM needed CSi’s assistance to help with the design, programming and test of a large machining center for an automotive end user. CSi designed the automatic controls, operator interface, and motion control system to the OEM specifications. Start up was performed at the OEM’s facility prior to machine shipment.
